For more information about how we collect and use personal information generally, please see our Privacy Policy.
2. What are cookies and similar technologies?
Cookies are small pieces of information that websites may store on your device when you visit them.
They can perform different functions, including remembering preferences, maintaining secure sessions, providing website functionality, measuring how a website is used and supporting advertising.
Websites can also use technologies other than traditional cookies to store information on, or access information from, a user's device. These may include local storage, pixels, tags and similar technologies.
In this Cookie Policy, references to cookies may also include similar storage and access technologies where appropriate.
3. Does CapSage currently use cookies?
The public CapSage website and funding assessment service do not currently use non-essential cookies or similar technologies on your device.
CapSage does not currently use the following technologies within the public customer journey:
- advertising cookies;
- analytics cookies;
- tracking pixels;
- advertising pixels;
- localStorage for tracking or analytics;
- sessionStorage for tracking or analytics;
- browser fingerprinting; or
- third-party advertising tags.
As a result, CapSage does not currently ask visitors to accept or reject non-essential cookies when using the public website or funding assessment service.
This reflects the current technical configuration of CapSage. The technologies used by the service may change as CapSage develops.
4. Referral and campaign information
CapSage may collect information about how a visitor arrived at the website.
This may include:
- referring website or source;
- UTM source;
- UTM medium;
- UTM campaign;
- UTM term; and
- UTM content.
This information may be contained in the URL used to visit CapSage or provided by the visitor's browser as referral information.
CapSage's current implementation does not place this information into cookies, localStorage or sessionStorage.
Instead, where available, the information is captured during the funding assessment and transmitted to CapSage's server with the assessment information.
We may use this information to understand how people find CapSage and to assess the effectiveness of our marketing and customer acquisition.
If we introduce analytics, advertising or attribution technologies in future that store information on, or access information from, a visitor's device, those technologies will be treated separately under the relevant sections of this Cookie Policy.
Further information about how we use referral and campaign information is provided in our Privacy Policy.
5. Essential technologies used to operate CapSage
The CapSage website relies on third-party infrastructure and service providers to operate.
These include services used for:
- website and application hosting;
- database infrastructure;
- email verification and delivery; and
- mobile verification.
These providers may process technical information necessary to provide, secure and maintain their services.
Their processing of personal information is addressed in the CapSage Privacy Policy.
Where a cookie or similar technology is strictly necessary to provide a service requested by the user, maintain security or enable essential functionality, it may be used without being treated as an optional analytics or advertising technology, subject to applicable law.
6. CapSage administration area
CapSage operates a restricted administration area that is not part of the public funding assessment service.
Access to this area is limited to authorised CapSage personnel.
CapSage uses Clerk for authentication within the restricted administration area. Clerk may use cookies or similar technologies that are strictly necessary to authenticate an authorised user, maintain a secure session and protect the administration area from unauthorised access.
These technologies are used for administration authentication and security. They are not used by CapSage to track visitors to the public customer journey for advertising or analytics purposes.
7. Analytics
CapSage does not currently use website analytics technologies that place or access information on a visitor's device within the public customer journey.
This means we do not currently use services such as Google Analytics or similar browser-based analytics tools on the public CapSage website or funding assessment journey.
CapSage may introduce analytics technologies in the future to understand how the website is used, measure performance and improve the service.
Before activating analytics technologies, we will assess the applicable consent requirements. Where consent is required, the relevant technologies will not be activated until the visitor has been given appropriate information and the opportunity to make a choice.
8. Advertising, attribution and remarketing
CapSage does not currently use advertising pixels, remarketing tags or similar browser-based advertising technologies within the public customer journey.
CapSage may introduce advertising, attribution or remarketing technologies from providers such as Google, Meta, LinkedIn or other platforms in the future.
These technologies may be used, for example, to measure customer acquisition, understand whether advertising has resulted in visits or completed assessments, or support relevant advertising.
Before activating these technologies, we will assess the applicable consent requirements. Where consent is required, the relevant non-essential technologies will not be activated until the visitor has been given appropriate information and has made the required choice.
9. Functional and personalisation technologies
CapSage does not currently use optional functional or personalisation cookies within the public customer journey.
We may introduce functionality in the future that uses cookies or similar technologies to remember choices, preferences or other settings.
Where such technologies are not strictly necessary, we will assess whether consent is required before they are activated and provide appropriate controls where required.
10. Cookie consent and preferences
Because CapSage does not currently use non-essential cookies or similar storage or access technologies within its public service, there is currently no general cookie consent banner on the public CapSage website.
This may change as the website and service develop.
If CapSage introduces technologies for which consent is required, we will provide appropriate information and controls so that visitors can make a choice before the relevant non-essential technologies are activated.
Where a consent mechanism is introduced, visitors will be able to manage the categories of non-essential technologies covered by that mechanism in accordance with applicable requirements.
Strictly necessary technologies required to provide essential functionality or maintain security may operate independently of optional consent choices where permitted by applicable law.
11. Future changes to the technologies we use
CapSage is designed to develop over time, and the cookies and similar technologies used by the service may therefore change.
For example, we may introduce analytics, advertising, attribution, functional or personalisation technologies as the website and our marketing activity develop.
Where we introduce a new cookie or similar technology, we will assess its purpose and the applicable consent requirements before activation.
Where consent is required, we will introduce appropriate consent controls before the relevant non-essential technology is used.
We will also update this Cookie Policy to describe material changes to the technologies in use and, where appropriate, their purposes.
12. Changes to this Cookie Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes to:
- the CapSage website or assessment service;
- the cookies or similar technologies we use;
- our analytics, advertising or attribution arrangements;
- our service providers; or
- applicable law or regulatory guidance.
The latest version of this Cookie Policy will be available on capsage.co.uk and will show the date it was last updated.
